2024 Club Championships – That’s a wrap!

Published on 16th September 2024

The 2024 Royal Fremantle Club Championships was one to remember, bringing together our members for a display of exceptional talent, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. This year’s event saw remarkable participation, as players across various divisions competed for the prestigious titles in what was a thrilling competition.

A Tournament to Remember

The Club Championships are always a highlight of the golfing calendar at Royal Fremantle, and this year was no exception. Over the course of the event, members demonstrated their dedication and passion for the game, with rounds marked by precision, determination, and memorable moments.

In the Men’s Championship final, Nick Piani and Mitchell Boorne faced off in a tense and closely contested match. The game went all the way to the 35th hole, where Nick Piani ultimately triumphed, winning 3 & 1. Both players displayed remarkable skill throughout the match, making it one of the standout moments of the tournament.

The Women’s Championship brought a unique narrative, as two sisters, Heather Grace Ong and Zoe Grace Ong, battled it out in the finals. Their sibling rivalry added an extra layer of excitement to the tournament, with both sisters displaying exceptional skill and sportsmanship. In the end, it was Zoe Grace Ong who claimed the victory on the 34th hole, 3 & 2, but the competitive spirit and mutual respect between the two made for a truly unforgettable match.

Junior Talent Shines Bright

The Women’s A Grade Championship was a particularly inspiring contest, featuring a dramatic final between 14-year-old Bella Monteleone and Donna Parsons, a seasoned golfer with years of experience. The match showcased the exciting future of youth golf alongside the wisdom and poise of a much more experienced player. In a thrilling battle, Bella Monteleone emerged victorious after winning 1 hole on the 19th in a closely fought playoff.

Celebrating Our Champions

At the conclusion of the tournament, a celebratory presentation and sundowner was held to honour the winners and acknowledge the effort of all participants. We would like to extend our congratulations to all the champions, finalists, and competitors who made this year’s Club Championships a success.
